Webinar: Getting to Work: The Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Students with Disabilities

This is a completed event.

Description:

Parents and caregivers of youth with disabilities face many challenges when helping their students prepare for adulthood and entering the workforce. Jean Steveson, Director of Transition Services with the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, will explain the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and how it relates to students with disabilities. She will focus in particular on the Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS) available for teenagers who are DARS clients.

Ms. Steveson has been a part of DARS for close to 30 years and will share her wealth of knowledge on transition services and DARS policy.

While issues of particular relevance to foster, adoptive and kinship families will be addressed, the webinar is open to all interested parents, caregivers and professionals.
