Regions 6 & 7- Conversations about Social Emotional Learning in Early Childhood

This is a completed event.

Description:

According to a recent NIEER report, kindergarten teachers say that about 20 percent of children entering their classrooms are not socially and emotionally ready for school. These young children do not pay attention, they do not get along with other children, and sometimes they show belligerence and aggression in the classroom and on the playground.  One very important skill young children learn and continue to practice early on is self-regulation. Self-regulation is defined as the ability to manage one’s behavior.  Self-regulation permeates all areas of development as well academically i.e., how a child can focus and learn in the classroom.

Early childhood administrators and professionals will find the round table discussions tailored to meet the needs of your locality in the areas of self-regulation, emotional literacy, and  family involvement, as well as evidence-based strategies to facilitate social emotional learning.

Registration begins at 9:00 am.
