VDOE Deeper Learning by Design Mathematics Institute: Differentiating Instruction Using Vertical Math Tasks

This is a completed event.

Description:

These NEW professional learning asynchronous courses are offered to Virginia mathematics teachers and teacher leaders. Four courses for educators in Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12 will be offered during the Fall Semester (September 19-December 18th). The six modules within these Canvas courses are intended to provide an opportunity for participants to explore various differentiation strategies and tools that may be used to deepen student understanding of mathematics. The use of rich vertical math tasks, learning trajectories, and rough draft math thinking strategies have been included in this professional learning opportunity. A team of Virginia mathematics educators, who worked closely in the development of these courses, will assist with facilitation of each course. Several optional “office hour” synchronous support sessions will also be provided. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for 24 hours which can be submitted to the local school division for recertification points. Registration will close August 31.
