This is a completed event.

Description:

Dr. Kimberly Avila sure knows visual impairments! Not only does she have a PhD in the field… not only was she a K-12 teacher of students with visual impairments for years… not only does she coordinate the Virginia’s VI Consortium for teacher preparation… but, she is also a parent of children with visual impairments as well as having a visual impairment herself.  Join Dr. Avila as she discusses information on parent and teacher roles in advocating and promoting accessible text options for students with blindness and visual impairment from the unique perspective of an individual, educator, practitioner, and parent.
