The 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Youth with Disabilities & A Workbook for Families, Educators, Youth Service Professionals, and Adult Allies Who Care About Youth with Disabilities

Description:

The National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability-Youth (NCWD/Y) provides two workbooks:

The 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Youth with Disabilities

This workbook is designed for youth and adults working with them to learn about disability disclosure and help them make informed decisions about whether or not to disclose their disability and understand by considering how that decision may impact their education, employment, and social lives. Based on the premise that disclosure is a very personal decision to be made by young people themselves, the workbook helps young people think about and practice disclosing their disability.

The 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Families, Educators, Youth Service Professionals, and Adult Allies Who Care About Youth with Disabilities

This workbook is for adults in the lives of young people (both those with visible disabilities and with disabilities not apparent to others). This workbook helps adults make informed decisions about teaching a young man or woman about his or her rights and responsibilities in disclosing his or her disability, a decision that will affect the young person’s educational, employment, and social life. It also helps adults learn how to support a young person with a disability as he or she takes steps in becoming more independent and self-sufficient.
