Description:

This two-part webinar will provide participants with an overview of UEB technical concepts.  Topics will include formatting, grade one indicator use, and transcription of basic to advanced mathematics.  Resources for UEB technical material transcription will be shared.  Participants should have a strong foundation in literary UEB transcription and preliminary UEB technical skills.  

Presenter:  Dr. Kimberly Avila is the professor-in-charge and coordinator of the Virginia Consortium for Teacher Preparation in Vision Impairment at George Mason University.  She has over twenty years of experience working in the field of blindness and visual impairment, and is passionate about equitable access to literacy through braille instruction.  Dr. Avila earned her PhD at George Mason University and was a doctoral fellow with the National Leadership Consortium in Sensory Disabilities through the Office of Special Education Programs.  

Target Audience: This two-part webinar is for teachers working in Virginia Public Schools with students who are blind/visually impaired.

Participants who complete this two-part webinar and the follow-up survey will receive a Certificate of Attendance for 4 continuing education hours.
