Opening Doors to Life Beyond High School (OD2LBHS) 2018

This is a completed event.

Description:

To: Parents (and Teachers) of transition-age students who are deaf and hard of hearing

Will your son or daughter be in grade 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 next year? Or are you the proud parent of a Class of 2018 graduate?

This year's OD2LBHS features Deaf Self-Advocacy Trainers from Civic Access (Charlottesville) who will lead students through a full fun day of exploring "Self" ideas: Self-Advocacy, Self-Determination and Self-Esteem. These important ideas help students develop the mindset and skills needed to believe they can achieve their educational and career goals!

Parents will start the day hearing the keynote speaker for Opening Doors-Unlocking Potential, Janet DesGeorges! You won't want to miss seeing this highly respected dynamic parent! Parent specific sessions are planned to help you connect with state people and resources to navigate through your teen's high school years and get ready for life after high school - whether that's to college, vocational training or right into the work world. You'll also meet other students and parents and have the opportunity to win a door prize, too!!!

Registration & Scholarship Information:

For just $15, you and your child may attend together. A second adult family member may attend for just $5 more. Thanks to our DARS partner, scholarships are available for families needing support to attend including travel support.
