This is a completed event.

Description:

The K-12 Dual Language Academy (Grade Band(s): K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, K-12 Administrators) aims to support new and existing Dual Language programs with in-depth professional development on the pillars of Dual Language instruction: developing bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural students. The format is like a well-integrated conference with multiple expert presenters and time for deep discussions. Topics may include:

  • goals and outcomes of Dual Language programs
  • materials and resources in the minority language
  • eliciting student talking and writing?
  • maximizing the daily schedule
  • and much more!

The Academy is ideal for Dual Language teachers, partner English teachers, reading specialists, administrators, and support staff. Sessions will be conducted primarily in English although appropriate breakout sessions in other languages may be included.

The 2017 Content Teaching Academy sessions begin at 8:30 Monday, June 26 and conclude at noon on Friday, June 30. Participants who are enrolled in an Academy for graduate credit must attend two additional sessions scheduled from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
