Approval of Additional Substitute Tests for Verified Credit in Reading, Writing, and Algebra I (Virginia Department of Education, VDOE)
On July 27, 2017, the Virginia Board of Education approved the revised SAT as an additional substitute test for verified credit in reading, writing, and Algebra I and the PSAT/NMSQT/PSAT 10 as an additional substitute test for reading and Algebra I. The document listing all tests approved as Standards of Learning (SOL) substitute tests for verified credit is available on the Department of Education’s website at http://doe.virginia.gov/testing/substitute_tests/index.shtml. These additional tests and newly adopted cut scores for pass/proficient and pass/advanced are identified in the document in bold print.
The revised SAT and PSAT/NMSQT/PSAT 10 tests are available for use immediately for students who need a verified credit as approved by the Virginia Board of Education. Scores for the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT/PSAT 10 tests will be used in calculating state accreditation; however, these tests are not currently approved for use in federal accountability.
