Webinar- Fostering Cultural Sensitivity and Raising Diversity Awareness in Early Learning Programs

This is a completed event.

Description:

The Census Bureau has projected that by 2020 half of the population of young children in early learning programs and schools will come from diverse backgrounds. Therefore, it is of high-priority that early childhood educators meet the needs of children coming from differing cultural backgrounds. The programs that acknowledge the diversity of the children and families they serve also understand the benefits of promoting cultural awareness. In this webinar, educators will reflect upon questions and explore strategies to incorporate cultural sensitivity and awareness into their curriculum and daily activities with young children.

Objectives:

  • Discover the impact of your unconscious biases on your interactions and relationships.
  • Explore strategies for developing an inclusive program that embraces all children and families.
  • Assess approaches to diversify environment, activities, and interactions to become a culturally responsive educator.
