Inspire a Growth Mindset and Boost Student Engagement in Inclusive Math Classrooms with High Leverage Practices (For Region 4 Division Partners)

Description:

This interactive session incorporates the latest growth mindset research with practical strategies teachers can use in their classrooms to inspire students to engage and overcome unfinished learning. Participants will use VDOE materials to create math unit self-monitoring checklists that enhance students’ self-awareness and determination. High leverage practices that create positive class learning environments will be shared. By the end of this session, teachers will have materials and resources they can use in their classrooms. This session with be offered asynchronously or synchronously. Professional Development Hours will be awarded.

Asynchronous Professional Learning
(Fall Prep Session open: July 11 – Oct. 11. Approximately 4 hours of time to complete modules and activities)
Asynchronous Professional Learning is a SELF-PACED online session, which incorporates interactive discussion boards, reflective activities, and independent work. Optional synchronous sessions will be offered to enrich collaboration. Collaborative learning teams or individual teachers can use this time to prepare materials for fall. Participants will design math unit self-monitoring checklists that identify unfinished learning standards and encourage students’ growth mindset. Private facilitated TTAC Coordinator synchronous sessions will be available upon request. The Fall prep sessions will be open until October 11. Additional sessions will be offered at later times.

Synchronous Professional Learning
(July 13 from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM or July 20 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
Synchronous professional learning is appropriate for professionals who would like to participate in live synchronous learning and activities.
