A Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a systemic framework that integrates evidence-based interventions and practices to meet the needs of specific populations. MTSS focuses specifically on supporting positive outcomes and supports alignment and integration of division and school level programming and practices in all areas, including secondary transition.

Learning Intentions:

  • Identify the five domains of Kohler’s Taxonomy for Transition Planning. 
  • Learn how to leverage the MTSS framework to support positive post-school outcomes.  
  • Learn how HLPs (High Leverage Practices) can be integrated into instructional practices when using the MTSS model. 
  • Acquire tools and resources, including the HLP/Transition Crosswalk, that can be used to help students prepare for postsecondary education, employment, and independent living through a multi-tiered transition framework

Intended Audience: Transition Coordinators, Specialists and those who provide and support transition services.
