Metro Comes to The Arc of Northern Virginia (Region 4) - Nov. 28, 10:00am-11:30am
Description:
Representatives from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will be on site to assist with:
- Taking photos and processing applications for the Reduced Fare Program.
- Taking photos and accepting applications for the MetroAccess Door to Door Paratransit program.
- Renewing expired Reduced Fare Cards or MetroAccess Services.
These are two separate programs, with separate application forms. Please take the time to understand which program you want to access, and understand the application process. THIS CAN BE COMPLICATED if you do not take the time to read and understand. We want to make this as easy for you as possible on the date of the event. But that can only happen if you come properly prepared.
**The MetroAccess Application may include the option for reduced fare for independent travel if the physician notes that on the application.
About the Programs:
Reduced Fare Program (Reduced Fare SmarTrip® Photo ID Card): Metrobus and Metrorail customers with disabilities may be eligible to ride at a discounted rate. Those customers who qualify will be issued a Reduced Fare SmarTrip® photo ID card. People with disabilities who have a Reduced Fare SmarTrip® Photo ID card may ride for half the peak fare on Metrorail, and for $1.00 on regular Metrobus routes. Riders also qualigy for discounted fare on other participating bus service providers. Review Reduced Fare Program eligibility guidelines
MetroAccess is the region’s complementary paratransit service offered in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Unlike non-emergency medical transportation, MetroAccess is a shared ride public transportation service for people who are unable to use the accessible fixed-route Metrobus and Metrorail public transit due to disability. MetroAccess can be used for any trip purpose within 3/4 of a mile of areas serviced by Metrobus and Metrorail, during the same hours of operation as regular Metrobus and Metrorail service. “Shared ride” means that multiple passengers may ride together in the same vehicle.
