Description:

Two middle school English demonstration site teams in the Excellence in Co-Teaching Initiative share plans to meet seventh grade Standards of Learning. In the "Point of View" lesson, you will see the integration of a research-based learning strategy as Specially Designed Instruction to address the needs of students who struggle with using roots and affixes to read words and understand their meanings. In the "Organizational Patterns" lesson, the teachers explain and model use of the Silent Survey Total Participation Technique and the Interactive Notebook system to organize class notes. The techniques shared will be valuable across content areas.
