R U "College & Career" Ready Magazine 2017: Reach Higher

The Virginia Department of Education, in partnership with Virginia Business Publications, LLC, is pleased to provide the R U "College & Career" Ready? Magazine, 2017 edition, Reach Higher, for students enrolled in the sophomore class.  In November 2016, this publication will be mailed to school counseling departments for distribution.  We are requesting the magazine be presented formally to students through a classroom guidance activity or by offering instruction as an extracurricular activity in collaboration with business/industry and postsecondary education partners.

In the magazine, Governor McAuliffe's letter indicates that a portion of new investments for public education is being allocated toward workforce programs at Virginia's community colleges to increase the number of students receiving credentials in high-demand fields.  The R U Ready Magazine provides information for students on the importance of making wise course taking decisions and pursuing industry credentialing opportunities.  The magazine is part of a series of resources, including the teacher's guide, Ready or Not, and a parent's brochure.
