This series of eight modules will describe the phases of the Escalation Cycle and provide information and strategies to consider when defusing behavior. The information in this series is intended for use by Virginia school personnel. For the most complete understanding of the processes and practices described in this series, it is recommended that you complete these modules in order. Throughout these modules, disruptive behavior is defined as any behavior that interferes with the student’s learning or the learning of others in the school setting.
