Virtual Learning Communities in Autism: Visual Supports

This is a completed event.

Description:

Join the Virtual Learning Community in Autism (VLCA) to discuss topics related to the evidence-based practice of visual supports! The VLCA is designed for professionals who want to learn how to effectively support a person with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in school, home, and community. Individuals participating in the VLCA will learn alongside others by reviewing content, implementing strategies, evaluating activities and sharing the outcomes of those activities by engaging in weekly discussions.

In this four-week series, participants will explore the topic of visual supports, with an emphasis on, assessing learners’ visual support needs, planning and developing visual supports, implementing visual supports as well as evaluating and revising visual supports to meet the needs of individual students. Participants will meet via Zoom  over four consecutive sessions to explore these objectives with a VCU-ACE facilitator. Participants will also have the opportunity to “practice” what they have learned in between live sessions. A certificate of completion will be  sent via email to participants who have completed the 4 session series requirements.
