Youth Engagement - Youth participation in planning, engaging, and assessing transition services empowers them, increases their self-determination, and gives them the skills and self-confidence needed for success in learning, working, and living.
These resources are for students and youth as they prepare for adult living. There are also resources for the professionals and family members who serve as allies with young people. The content has been developed by both young adults with disabilities and adult allies with expertise in this area of transition planning and services. Use these resources to better understand challenges to engagement, the youth development process, and key components to successful youth engagement.
Supported by NTACT:C, the Youth Engagement Transition Initiative (YETI) is a national advisory group composed of young adults with disabilities from across the United States. These young leaders are committed to sharing their lived experiences and providing guidance that shapes NTACT:C’s work, ensuring that youth perspectives are foundational to the technical assistance provided across the nation.
Youth Engagement Now (a collaboration between NTACT:C’s YETI and the National Resources for Access, Independence, Self-determination, and Employment (RAISE) Center) shares resources developed by both young adults with disabilities and experienced adult allies, the content provides valuable insights into overcoming engagement challenges, understanding the youth development process, and identifying key components of successful youth engagement.developed by youth with disabilities across the country to access tools to successfully engage and involve youth partners in projects to support impactful change.
