Virtual Virginia (VVA) (Virginia Department of Education, VDOE)- Free Resources to Support Virtual Learning

Description:

IN RESPONSE TO 3/16–3/27 VIRGINIA SCHOOL CLOSINGS

Virtual Virginia (VVA) will expand its offerings to include elementary and middle school content and courses beginning in May 2020 and continuing into the 2020-2021 school year.

The expansion of Virtual Virginia provides support to school divisions in this crisis situation by providing a platform with which they can provide students and teachers with online access to instructional content. VVA course content will be made available to any school division who chooses to enroll students and teachers into the program, at no cost to the school division.

For the remainder of the 2019–2020 academic year, Virtual Virginia will offer 81 online resources in all subject areas at no cost for teachers and students to use in online delivery via the Virtual Virginia LMS. The resources contain fully developed lessons aligned to state and national standards, videos, interactive applications, and assignments. Teachers using the resources will have access to free training and ongoing support through a professional learning network of Virginia educators.

As a program of the Virginia Department of Education, Virtual Virginia (VVA) offers online Advanced Placement (AP®), world language, core academic, and elective courses to students across the Commonwealth and nation.  Virtual Virginia is committed to providing high-quality, rigorous course content with the flexibility to meet schools’ and students’ varied schedules. Our program strives to provide instruction that meets the individual needs of students.

Virtual learning is the new frontier in today’s educational institutions. The technology of the 21st century provides a unique opportunity for educators to reach students who want the experience of online courses.
