This is a completed event.

Description:

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Rehabilitation Research and Training Center Autism Center for Education, along with Regional Training and Technical Assistance Centers, is providing an advanced-level training program to enhance and expand the Community of Leaders in Autism (CoLA). Current CoLA participants are encouraged to apply!

The CoLA Leadership Academy is a 15-month program for autism leaders in school divisions to develop skills related to developing and implementing targeted program improvement initiatives through the use of a problem-solving model, goal setting, professional development, coaching, and evaluation. The Leadership Academy will prepare participants to lead teams, use relevant data and VCU-ACE tools to identify and define areas of growth, utilize resources to provide high-quality professional development, provide instructional/behavioral coaching, and evaluate efficacy through goal setting, data collection, and progress monitoring.

  • From April 2024 through June 2024, participants will engage in monthly PD sessions and receive coaching and support to apply the information and resources to develop an Autism Action Plan to address identified needs in their setting.
  • During the 2024-2025 school year, participants will refine and implement the plan, receiving in-person and virtual coaching from VCU-ACE staff. Participants will present their projects during the 2025 Summer CoLA.

Learn more about this exciting opportunity in the CoLA Leadership Academy Overview and register by April 9th.
