Description:

The ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV) is offering a new self-advocacy program in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services. The program, I AM Self-Advocacy, is individualized and runs for eight weeks. Open to youth with disabilities between the ages of 16-21, the program aims to empower participants into being able to advocate on their own behalf.

The program teaches different facets of self-advocacy including discovering strengths, exploring ambitions, understanding personal needs and disabilities, understanding the right to advocate for yourself, finding supportive allies and much more.

ECNV is holding information sessions for youth and parents in Arlington and Fairfax Counties and the Cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax. Sessions will be offered:

  • Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 – 4:30 p.m.
