Leading for English Learner (EL) Achievement Workshop (Virginia Department of Education, VDOE)

This is a completed event.

Description:

English Learners (ELs) are a growing segment of the student population for many divisions across the Commonwealth. As part of the Virginia Department of Education’s ongoing effort to support school and division personnel in planning and implementing effective programs for English Learners (ELs), a two-day training – Leading Schools for English Learner Achievement – will be presented at two locations.

During this training, school leaders will explore policy; instructional leadership practices; and building systems of collaboration between students, teachers, families, and data teams that are necessary for ELs to thrive. Throughout the training, they will reflect on their school’s policies and systems in order to craft a personal leadership action plan that promotes equitable educational opportunities.

This training is recommended for school principals and administrators who are responsible for school-level policies, leading school improvement planning and data analysis processes, and making decisions about programs, schedules, and professional development.
