Discovering the Possibilities with Visual Strategies: Meeting the Communication, Behavior & Social Challenges of Students with Special Learning Needs

This is a completed event.

Description:

Presented by Linda Hodgdon M.Ed., CCC-SLP

Most students with special learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, cognitive and learning challenges are visual learners.  Capitalizing on their strengths, using visual strategies alters many social, communication, and behavior situations.  This program will demonstrate effective ways to use a range of low tech pictures to high tech visual tools, including video and tablets like iPads and Apps, to improve communication, reduce behavior problems and help students participate successfully in their life opportunities.  Visual strategies work for a wide range of ages and skill levels. This program will define the need, discuss training, and demonstrate many practical ideas for school, home and community.
