Join this first webinar in a three-part series to find out how Head Start and Early Head Start programs can support children, especially exposed infants, and families impacted by opioid and other substance use disorders. Explore substance use and substance use treatment in pregnancy. Discover ways to support infants experiencing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) or Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS).

Topics for the webinar include:

  • The importance of medically assisted treatment
  • Immediate post-discharge issues and strategies to support infants and families impacted by NAS/NOWS
  • Moving beyond the medical model by informing programs to better identify the needs of affected families and connecting them to relevant and necessary resources
  • Policy and practice changes, including Plans of Safe Care, to support children and families impacted by substance use disorders
