Introductory Webinar for the New Virginia Alternate Assessment Program

The Department of Student Assessment, Accountability, and ESEA Programs and the Department of Special Education and Student Services will offer a webinar on different dates to introduce the new Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP) to Virginia teachers and school staff. The new VAAP is an online assessment in reading, mathematics, and science for eligible students with significant cognitive disabilities in grades 3 through 8 and high school that will replace the current portfolio-based assessment beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.

Please share this information with teachers and other staff who serve students with significant cognitive disabilities. To ensure maximum accessibility, the webinar will be offered after regular instructional hours on the dates and times listed below. The registration link for each webinar is also provided below. After completing the online registration, a confirmation email will be sent from the Office of Student Assessment to the registered participant.
