IES Reading Summit: Linking Data and Learning

This is a completed event.

Description:

On June 8 and 9, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) and the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) will convene a virtual conference to address one of the most important issues confronting American education today: the declining reading performance of America’s lowest-performing readers and the growing gap between low and high performing students.

At this two-day gathering, educators, instructional leaders, and policy makers will hear from some of America's most respected and innovative researchers and educators in the fields of reading instruction, literacy, and language. Participants will include 2020 and 2021 Teachers of the Year, Tabatha Rosproy and Juliana Urtubey; Patricia Edwards; Elfrieda (Freddy) Hiebert; Donald Leu; P. David Pearson; Scott Norton; Sharon Vaughn; and a closing panel featuring Kathy Au, Christopher Edley Jr., Ray Hart, Carol D. Lee, Pedro Noguera, and William Trent.
