Description:

Opening Doors to Life Beyond High School (OD2LBHS) returns for a third year to provide activities and training specifically designed to address the unique needs of students who are rising 8th graders to the new Class of 2017 grads who are deaf and hard of hearing, their parents and educators in Virginia to promote self-determination skills of students who are d/hh for improved success in post-secondary outcomes.
Students will have 3 exciting interactive sessions led by the Gallaudet University Regional Center-South Outreach Team. The day will be filled with fun Youth Empowership activities as students learn about themselves and how they relate to others in school and the wider community.
Parents will have sessions featuring important information on Virginia agency and other resources of importance to transition-age students.
Professionals will receive Steps to Success: A Scope and Sequence of Skills for Students who are D/HH:Perceptions, Processing, Self-Knowledge, and Advocacy Development (revised and expanded 2016) and all day training by author Lynne Price.
