HLP 16 Explicit Instruction Practice Profile (VDOE TTACs)

Description:

Using guidance from the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN), and the State Implementation Scaling-up of Evidence-based Practices (SISEP) Active Implementation Hub Practice Profile Planning Tool, the VDOE TTACs collaborated to develop an HLP 16 Explicit Instruction Practice Profile to support high-quality, effective implementation.

Designated by the CEEDAR Center and CEC as a pillar HLP, explicit instruction is an evidence-based practice (EBP) that improves student achievement in academics and behavior for students with and without disabilities.  Grounded in research, the VDOE TTAC HLP 16 Practice Profile clearly defines core components of explicit instruction and provides indicators that describe expected, developmental, and unacceptable variations in practice. Instructional coaches, administrators, and collaborative learning teams, and teachers can use the HLP 16 Explicit Instruction Practice Profile for ongoing professional development and implementation support.
